I Asked Chat GTP to Write Me an Article
It didn’t go great
I will be honest: it’s been years since I’ve written a proper article.
The last time I published on Medium, it was 2020 and I was a sophomore in high school who had just gotten locked up in quarantine. Now I’m a senior (with a repeated a year of high school in the middle) and I’m committed to a college to study journalism.
Ever since the COVID pandemic, my motivation had been zapped. I used to be a fountain of ideas, and now I’m barely able to open a Google Doc. There’s nothing that inspires me to write.
At least, there was nothing that inspired me to write. Then Chat GTP appeared.
The new AI technology that burst on the scene — a bot that had taken input from millions of human-written texts and was able to produce any text you wanted on demand. It put everyone into a minor existential crisis as we realized that this robot-taking-our-jobs thing has gotten a lot more real than we would’ve liked.
For me, more importantly, it was an inspiration.
With journalism being my future, Chat GTP is especially relevant as that field is going to be one of the most impacted by this new technology. When you have a robot who can produce unlimited text for free, it reduces the jobs where humans need to write…
